6 – Gurgel BR-800.

Gurgel BR-800

Ah, the Gurgel BR-800! This Brazilian little car has an interesting story, but let's be honest: beauty isn't exactly its strong point.

With lines that are more reminiscent of a science fair project than refined automotive design, it definitely wouldn't win any beauty contests.

The BR-800 was a legitimate attempt to create an economical and accessible car for Brazilians, but it seems that when it came to designing, the inspiration came from a crumpled notepad. Its aesthetic is very peculiar, with square shapes and a miniature appearance that seems to have shrunk in the rain.

Despite its questionable appearance, the car has its fans as it is a symbol of Brazilian resistance and innovation. In the end, the BR-800 still has its charm, a somewhat crooked charm, it's true, but still, a charm. And as they say, beauty is subjective, right?

5 – Fiat Doblo.

Fiat Doblo

If design were music, Doblo would be that bonus track that no one asked for. With lines that look like they were sketched during an earthquake, it definitely challenges the traditional notion of automotive beauty. The Doblo aesthetic has a “let's just make it all fit and see what happens” vibe, resulting in a look that's as quirky as it is practical.

Don't get me wrong, it has its ugly duckling charm and is about as spacious inside as a small apartment, but let's be serious: it's not going to win any beauty contests. The front looks like it was inspired by a notepad, and the windows have that giant aquarium look that doesn't help the overall look.

Now, the irony is that despite all this lack of aesthetic appeal, the Doblo gets the job done. It loads, transports and doesn't let you down. It's the kind of car you don't want to be seen driving, but when you actually need to use it, you're grateful it's there. Style isn't everything, but hey, a little more effort in appearance wouldn't hurt, Fiat!
